Laura Connerat Lawton and Polly Wylly Cooper, both local Savannahians, have been friends forever. In 1958 they began their journalism journey and wrote a social column for the Savannah Morning News called A Glance Askance. The editor rejected the name so they changed it to A View Askew. They are still writing today.
They are co-authors today of many local Savannah books and also members of the World-famous Crabettes, a group of musicians with a keyboard, singers, accordions, clarinet, violin, autoharp, drums and guitars who entertain at parties, parades, and retirement homes.
